The work was commissioned by the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irish_Shipping" class="extiw" title="en:Irish Shipping">en:Irish Shipping</a> from the marine artist Kenneth King <a rel="nofollow" class="external autonumber" href="http://www.king-studio.com">[1]</a> After the demise of Irish Shipping, the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maritime_Institute_of_Ireland" class="extiw" title="en:Maritime Institute of Ireland">en:Maritime Institute of Ireland</a> purchased it at auction. The painting can be seen in the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Maritime_Museum_of_Ireland" class="extiw" title="en:National Maritime Museum of Ireland">en:National Maritime Museum of Ireland</a>. Des Brannigan, while president of the MII had this painting scanned for a commemorative brochure (this image is from that scan rather than directly from the painting)
