Summary
This image, photographed with a stationary camera inside Atlantis' umbilical well, provides a close-up look at the forward portion of the external tank as the tank was falling away from the shuttle. A crescent-shaped three-inch by six-inch foam divot can be seen on the left side of the image. The photography is valuable for imagery experts in Mission Control who attempt to discern the size of the foam released as well as the time it may have come off the tank during launch.
