File:Seattle - Chittenden locks and Salmon Bay Terminal circa 1919.jpg
Summary
Description in the published source (1919): "Salmon Bay Locks and Port of Seattle Terminal". A secondary caption on the image says "Port of Seattle Commission Salmon Bay Terminal". The Ballard Bridge can be seen in the background.
The locks are now the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks and are listed (along with the Lake Washington Ship Canal) on the National Register of Historic Places, ID #78002751. The locks connect saltwater Shilshole Bay to Salmon Bay (which became a freshwater bay because of the locks). The terminal is now Fishermen's terminal.
This image shows the grounds to the north of the locks rather bare. They are now covered by the Carl P. English Gardens, and vehicles no longer come so close to the locks.
