Summary

Shellac used on a knotty pine board. One the left is a patch with 1 coat of shellac, followed by a patch with 2 coats, followed by a patch with 3-4 coats, followed by a patch 4-5 coats. The type of shellac used is called "Dewaxed Dark", and is basically just a darker version of the traditional orange shellac. IT SHOULD BE NOTED that this was a "quick and dirty" job, done specifically for making a photo for the shellac article, not as a fine furniture piece. There are bristles from the brush, as well as dust and debris, in the shellac; also, it was a very thick concentrate (5-lb. cut), NEVER intended for actual use without serious thinning.
