The mission was to prove that the tracked vehicle was capable of deploying straight from the ship to sea through the ship's well dock. It's the first time that a vehicle of this type has been deployed in this manner. The vehicle is fully amphibious and designed by BAE Systems, in collaboration with the Swedish Company Land Systems Hagglunds. The Viking vehicle can operated in temperatures from –46°C to +46°C and was selected for its multi-role and world-wide operational capability in jungle, desert and Arctic conditions and for rapid deployment. |
