GURNEE, Ill. (Aug. 23, 2007) - Seaman Aaron Honeycutt, assigned to Transient Personnel Unit Great Lakes, shovels sand into a sandbags held by Seaman Katie Waterman and Seaman Joshua Tyson. The sandbags are for delivery to local homes and businesses. Due to recent heavy rains in the Midwest, Gurnee officials are anticipating the Des Plaines River will crest above flood stage. More than 300 Sailors from Naval Station Great Lakes volunteered to fill sandbags to prevent flood waters from damaging businesses and residences in the downtown area.
