Summary

Former Oregon Governor Vic Atiyeh joins Oregon State Defense Force Brig. Gen. James B. Thayer for a quiet moment at the start of the tour of the Oregon Military Museum's construction site at Camp Withycombe in Clackamas, Ore., April 11. The two were joined by former Oregon Governor Ted Kulongoski, Miss Oregon Nichole Mead, Oregon Department of Veterans Affairs Director Cameron Smith, President of Emmert International Terry Emmert, and John, Jim and Mike Thayer, for a tour of the construction site, and were able to watch the removal of the old Camp Withycombe guard shack. Several individuals from today’s group are scheduled to attend a sold-out fundraiser event on April 20, which will feature entertainment by Tommy Thayer of the rock band KISS. Proceeds from the gala event will go toward the two-year capital campaign to raise funds for the Brig. Gen. James B. Thayer Museum located at Camp Withycombe. (Photo by Master Sgt.
