Fløtemysost

Fløtemysost or Fløytemysost is a type of brunost (Norwegian: "brown cheese"), made from cow milk. It has a mild taste and bright color.

The mild flavour has made fløtemysost very popular and about 30%[citation needed] of all brunost sold is fløtemysost.

Fløtemysost was the first brunost to be made, when Anne Hov added cow cream to cow whey and it became fløtemysost.[citation needed] Later, she added goat milk and the gudbrandsdalost was born.[citation needed]

Geitost is the counterpart to fløtemysost because it is made from goat's milk. Goat cheese has a stronger taste than fløtemysost.
