Frances Howard (June 4, 1903 – July 2, 1976) was an American actress and the second wife of Academy Award-winning producer Samuel Goldwyn and the paternal grandmother of Tony Goldwyn.

Biography

Born Frances Howard McLaughlin[2] in Omaha, Nebraska, in 1903, to James and Maureen[citation needed], Howard was raised Catholic. She married Samuel Goldwyn on April 23, 1925. They remained married until Goldwyn's death. They had one son, Samuel Goldwyn, Jr. Among their grandchildren is actor Tony Goldwyn.

Reportedly worried that Hitler was going to invade the United States, Howard made plans to fake the drowning of her son, set up a false identity, and escape to Mexico where she had money waiting.[3]

Death

Frances Howard died in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, California, aged 73. She was interred next to her husband at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Glendale in Glendale, California.
