Free immersion (FIM) is an AIDA International freediving discipline in which the freediver dives under water without the use of propulsion equipment, but only by pulling on the rope during descent and ascent.[1]

Performances may be done head first or feet first during the descent, or a combination of the two.

The current record holders are William Trubridge with a depth of 121m in a dive time of 4min 13s, set on April 10, 2011 in Dean's Blue Hole, Bahamas[2] and Natalia Molchanova (Russia) with 85 m, set on July 27, 2008 in Crete, Greece.
