Looking along Waterside Road and Giffordgate

Giffordgate is a street in the town of Haddington, East Lothian, Scotland. It runs adjacent to the River Tyne opposite St Mary's Church and overlooking the 12th-century Nungate Bridge. Giffordgate connects to Waterside Road (the location of the Waterside Bistro), Ford Road (which used to lead to an old ford over the river) and via a narrow pathway (paved in 2005) to Gifford Road.

Giffordgate is reported to be the birthplace of John Knox, a fact marked by an oak tree between numbers 5 and 7. There are around 12 houses along Giffordgate.
