Gorton North

Lua error in Module:Location_map at line 411: attempt to index field 'wikibase' (a nil value). Gorton North is a local government ward in the Gorton area of the City of Manchester. The ward contains the former Belle Vue (zoo, amusement park and greyhound racing track). Politically, the area is dominated by the Labour party. The Conservative Party is not represented in Gorton. The city councillors for the ward are John Hughes (Labour), Nilofar Siddiqi (Labour) and Afia Kamal (Labour). Former councillors include Jackie Pearcey who lost her seat to Afia Kamal in 2012, Wendy Helsby who lost her seat to John Hughes in 2011, Bernadette Newing, who lost her seat in the local election in May 2006 to Nilofar Siddiqi. Historically Gorton North was a safe Labour seat. Previous Labour councillors for Gorton North were Colin Brierley, Tom Hamnett and Anne Unwin (previously Anne McQueen).

Gorton North is in the Manchester Gorton parliamentary constituency.
