Grand Council of Neuchâtel

Since the merger of the Liberals and Free Democrats, FDP.The Liberals and the Social Democrats have dominated the Grand Council of Neuchâtel. The left has a slight overall majority.

The Grand Council of Neuchâtel (French: Grand Conseil de Neuchâtel) is the legislature of the canton of Neuchâtel, in Switzerland. Neuchâtel, styled as a 'Republic and Canton', has a unicameral legislature. The Grand Council has 115 seats, with members elected every four years.

On the last occasion, on 5 April 2009, the newly merged FDP.The Liberals won a plurality, with 41 of the 115 seats. They supplanted the Social Democrats, who won 36 (down five from 2005). The Green Party (14 seats), Swiss People's Party (14 seats), and the far left alliance of the Swiss Party of Labour and solidaritéS (10 seats) also won representation.
