Grant Clitsome (born April 14, 1985) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman currently playing for the Winnipeg Jets of the National Hockey League (NHL).
Playing career
Clitsome was drafted in the ninth round, 271st overall, by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. He then committed to a four-year collegiate career with Clarkson University of the ECAC.
Clitsome made his NHL debut on March 2, 2010, providing two assists for the Blue Jackets and winning the game's third star in a 4-3 overtime loss to the Vancouver Canucks while on emergency call-up.[1] His first NHL goal was scored on March 27, 2010 against Dwayne Roloson of the New York Islanders. On July 22, 2010, Grant re-signed as a restricted free agent with the Blue Jackets to a one-year contract.[2]
On February 27, 2012 in the midst of an struggling year with the Blue Jackets he was claimed off waivers by the Winnipeg Jets.[3] Clitsome and the Jets agreed to a three-year contract, on January 2, 2013.[4] The Winnipeg Jets lost Clitsome indefinitely for the 2014-15 NHL Season, after he had back surgery in Los Angeles on Thursday, January 8, 2015.[5]
