From Infogalactic: the planetary knowledge core
HMS Artemis after the Greek goddess Artemis is the name of a number of real and fictional ships:
- HMS Artemis (P449), an Amphion class submarine built in 1946, which foundered while at moorings in 1971 and was subsequently broken up. The only Royal Navy vessel to have borne this name.
Fictional
- Artemis - in Diana Gabaldon's Voyager
- Artemis - In The Ship, by C. S. Forester. The Artemis was based upon the real exploits and experiences of HMS Penelope during a battle in the Mediterranean Sea against superior Italian forces.
