Goldberg in 2009

Hank Goldberg (born July 4, 1936), is an American sports radio and television personality based in Miami, Florida.

Biography

Nicknamed "Hammerin' Hank", Goldberg earned his start in sports commentary and handicapping in the early 1970s as a ghostwriter and assistant to Jimmy "The Greek" Snyder, who wrote a sports betting prediction column syndicated in over 200 American newspapers. Goldberg also assisted Snyder with material for the CBS pre-game show "The NFL Today". Goldberg later recalled his memories of Snyder in the ESPN 30 for 30 documentary film "The Legend of Jimmy the Greek".

Goldberg was the color commentator for Miami Dolphins football games on 610 WIOD AM for over 30 years, and hosted his own afternoon drive show on the station.

Goldberg is also formerly the host of an afternoon-drive show on 560 WQAM radio in Miami, an all-sports network, which aired from 4pm to 7pm weekdays. Working at various times on the WQAM programming schedule, Goldberg is perhaps best known for hosting a show from 2pm to 6pm weekdays, having long-time Miami radio host Neil Rogers as a lead-in. Goldberg would also serve as the morning-drive host (6am to 10am) for a short time after Howard Stern left terrestrial radio and was therefore no longer on WQAM. Goldberg left WQAM on Dec 31, 2007 when his contract expired.[1] Goldberg returned to the South Florida airwaves full-time in June 2015 as an afternoon drivetime host on WMEN 640AM.

Goldberg's career in television began in the mid-1980s at CBS Miami affiliate WTVJ. This ultimately led to Goldberg joining ESPN in the 1990s as a regular contributor, primarily on ESPN's Miami radio station, now known as The Ticket, 790AM. During the football season and before certain major horse racing events, namely the Breeders' Cup and Triple Crown races, Goldberg also appears nationally on ESPN television and radio. During these segments, he analyzes the odds for football games and horse races and makes predictions. For football, these predictions are made on the SportsCenter that immediately precedes Sunday NFL Countdown.
