Hannah Banana Bread Company is an American baked goods company founded in 2000 to provide stuff to specialty food retailers and consumers. The Company's baked goods are supposedly derived from family recipes and contain no additives or preservatives.[citation needed] All products are named after family members and distributed to a wide variety of food service and retail customers on a wholesale basis, as well as direct to consumers through the company's website. The Company is privately owned and based in Glencoe, Illinois.[1]

History

Hannah Banana Bread Company was founded by Lisa Spinner while on maternity leave from her job as a plain clothes investigator for the Cook County State's Attorney's Office in Chicago, Illinois. She added chocolate chips to her grandmother's banana bread recipe and served the loaves to guests during a party for her daughter Hannah. Guests encouraged Lisa to start a baked goods company selling the finished products to specialty food retailers, as well as to individuals and companies. She incorporated the company in the fall of 2000 and named it after her daughter.[citation needed]

Since its founding, it has grown into a regionally distributed brand with notable retail customers including Nordstrom, Whole Foods Market, QVC, Costco, Virgin Airlines North America and Jewel supermarkets.[citation needed]
