Hans Ramberg (15 March 1917 – 7 June 1998) was a Norwegian-Swedish geologist. The mineral rambergite was named after him.

Life and work

He received his Ph.D from the University of Oslo in 1946. He subsequently worked at the University of Chicago (1948–1961) and at the Geophysical Laboratory of the Carnegie Institution for Science (1952–1955) at the Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto (1960–1961) and for the rest of his career at the University of Uppsala (1961–1982).[1]

In 1967, he was elected a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, and in 1972 he was awarded the Wollaston Medal.
