Hot Desert Knights (also known as HDK) is a major American gay pornography studio that specializes in bareback (sex) films, the others being Treasure Island Media and SX Video.

Overview

Very famously, Jeff Palmer signed with Hot Desert Knights after being diagnosed as HIV positive to star in his first condomless, or "bareback" film Jeff Palmer Raw. It featured Palmer's first anally receptive or "bottom" sex scene as well with top being played by Tommy Saxx.[1][2]

Hot Desert Knights also runs various series under the titles like "HDK Raw", "Bareback Central" and "Naked Sword".

Sero-Sorting

Initially Hot Desert Knights operated on the assumption that all of their bareback models were HIV positive.[3] However, in February 2008, HDK announced that it would begin testing its models for HIV and engage in a process of "sero-sorting", which match HIV-positive performers with other HIV-positive performers, and negative with negative. Critics suggest that sero-sorting may not prevent the development of a multi-strain "supervirus".

Warnings

Now Hot Desert Knights websites carry clear warnings about the barebacking practice and on what basis HDK is marketing its videos. The HDK Raw website says for example: "This website shows photos and videos of Gay Bareback (non-condom) Sex. These depictions are for fantasy purposes only. We strongly advise you to use condoms and always practice safer sex to protect yourself and prevent the spread of HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases". It adds: "Hot Desert Knights is proud to be a leader amongst Bareback Gay Porn producers in caring for model's safety. All Hot Desert Knights models are tested using the most modern technology under the auspices of the Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation (AIM). Paperwork showing the model's HIV status is kept on file".
