IOTA is a technology created as an alternative to blockchain based on so-called tangles as a blockless distributed ledger architecture.[1][2][3] It was created as a "transactional settlement and data integrity layer for the Internet of Things". IOTA and Tangle are created to support "nanopayments and a Machine-to-Machine economy".[1]
