Imre Boba
Imre Boba (23 October 1919 – 11 January 1996), was a Hungarian historian and educator.
Biography
He was born in Győr, Hungary, the son of László Kázmér Boba and his wife Ilona (née Farkas). Between 1929 and 1939, he studied in Poland, and in 1941 he graduated from the Polish high school in Balatonboglár. He studied Slavistics, History and Finno-Ugric Linguistics at the Péter Pázmány University. In 1946 he received his university diploma, then emigrated to Great Britain and lived in London.
Boba was member of the Polish Resistance Movement in Hungary (1939–1945).[1] He served with Radio Free Europe (1952–1959) in Munich, Germany. He moved to the United States, and was naturalized in 1956. Boba married Elizabeth Herndon Hudson on December 22, 1954. They had two children. He was co-editor of the Dictionary of Political Sources and a contributor to the Slavic Review.
Boba taught history for 28 years at the University of Washington. He was member of the American Historical Association, and the American Association for Advancement Slavic Studies.
