The 2016 Indiana gubernatorial election will take place on November 8, 2016, to elect the Governor and Lieutenant Governor of Indiana, concurrently with the 2016 U.S. presidential election, as well as elections to the United States Senate and elections to the United States House of Representatives and various state and local elections.
The primaries were held on May 3.
Incumbent Republican Governor Mike Pence is running for reelection to a second term in office. He will face John Gregg, former Speaker of the Indiana House of Representatives in a rematch of the 2012 race.
Pence is considered vulnerable in his bid for a second term, as reflected in his low approval ratings.[1] He also received backlash for endorsing Ted Cruz;[2] Cruz later dropped out of the race on May 3, 2016, after losing to Donald Trump, and Pence later endorsed Trump after the Indiana primary.[3]
