The InterContinental Boston is a AAA Four Diamond[1] and Forbes Travel Guide Four Star[2] hotel operated by the InterContinental Hotels Group. The waterfront-adjacent 21 story hotel is located at 510 Atlantic Avenue in Boston, Massachusetts. The hotel contains three food and beverage outlets, 32,000 square feet (3,000 m2) of meeting space, 424 guest rooms, 130 private residences, and the SPA InterContinental.[3]

History and Location

The InterContinental Boston opened in November 2006 as the first InterContinental Hotel in both Boston and New England. The hotel was awarded the “Hotel Development of the Year” at the Americas Lodging Investment Summit in January 2007 and was designed by Boston-based firm Elkus Manfredi Architects.[4] The hotel is located across from the Financial District of Boston and overlooks the Rose Kennedy Greenway. It has an on-site parking facility operated by Icon Parking and is approximately a five-minute walk from the South Station stop on the MBTA, with access to Amtrak/Acela Express, bus, and subway (T).[5][6] Water taxis also provide service directly from the Logan Airport Boat Dock to a dock located behind the hotel.[7]

Food and Beverage Outlets

Miel "Brasserie Provençale"

Miel (French for honey) is a AAA Four Diamond Provence-themed Brasserie.[8] Celebrity Chef Jacques Chibois, a two-star Michelin Chef based in Grasse, France serves as ambassador chef for the restaurant which is currently run by Executive Restaurant Chef, Devanand Chinta.[9] The restaurant focuses on serving organic fare flavored with fresh Côte d’Azur ingredients from the Provence region of France.[10]

Sushi-Teq

Opened in March 2007, the thirty seat Sushi-Teq is a first of its kind combination sushi and tequila bar.[11] It offers 69 different types of tequila, a wide variety of sushi options, and also encourages salsa dancing.[12]

RumBa

RumBa is a rum-themed cocktail bar located in the lobby of the hotel. The bar offers 100 specialty rums, appetizers, and a raw bar menu. RumBa also contains a private champagne bar, inspired by the Moulin Rouge, which is only open to the public on the first Saturday of every month for Champagne parties. The name was not inspired by the Latin dance, but rather is a Bostonian's pronunciation of "Rum Bar" with the R in Bar being silent.[13]

SPA InterContinental

SPA InterContinental is a full-service, 6,600 sq ft (610 m2). spa and health club which includes a 45-foot (14 m) indoor heated pool, located on the second floor of the hotel.[14]
