Chronology
Predecessor International 3800

The International 3300 is a cowled (conventional-style) bus chassis manufactured by Navistar International since 2005 for the United States, Canada, and Mexico. While primarily used for yellow school buses, versions of the 3300 are bodied for other applications as well.

Design overview

Introduced as the replacement for the 3800 (based on the long-running International Harvester S-Series), the 3300 is derived from the International Durastar medium-duty truck line; the model shares its powertrain and forward body components with the Durastar (the cutaway-cab version of the Durastar is designated the International 3200).

As a consequence of a number of acquisitions and agreements between chassis suppliers and school bus body manufacturers (the largest purchasers of cowled bus chassis), the International 3300 has not been as widely used among industry manufacturers as its 3800 predecessor. In 2005, the 3300 was bodied by two body manufacturers: IC Bus (subsidiary of Navistar) and Blue Bird Corporation, who offered the 3300 as an additional model line alongside its Blue Bird Vision conventional. Since 2008, in the United States and Canada, the 3300 has been bodied by IC Bus exclusively.
