International Theory is an interdisciplinary peer-reviewed academic journal published triannually by Cambridge University Press for promoting theoretical scholarship about the positive, legal, and normative aspects of world politics respectively. The publishers state that it is intended as a forum where scholars can develop theoretical arguments in depth without an expectation of extensive empirical analysis.[1] It was established in 2009 and the editors-in-chief are Christian Reus-Smit (University of Queensland), Duncan Snidal, (Nuffield College, Oxford University) and Alexander Wendt (Ohio State University).[2]

According to the Journal Citation Reports, the journal has a 2014 impact factor of 1.051, ranking it 52nd out of 161 journals in the category "Political Science" and 27th out of 85 journals in the category "International Relations".[3]
