JAMA Surgery is a monthly professional medical journal which aims to be "a sounding board and forum for all the changes that are occurring in surgery today".[1] The journal was established in 1920 as "Archives of Surgery".[1] The editor-in-chief is Melina R. Kibbe, MD (Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University). According to the Journal Citation Reports, the journal's 2014 impact factor is 3.936.
