James Clark was the fifth president of Washington College[1]

Clark was born on March 9, 1812 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.[1] He attended the University of Pennsylvania, graduating in 1830. He was ordained by the Presbyterian Church on November 8, 1837.[1] Before and after his presidency at Washington College, he was pastor at various churches in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.[1] He was elected the fifth president of Washington College on May 6, 1850, where he was also Professor of Mental and Moral Science, and of the Hebrew, French and German Languages and Literature.[1] Clark resigned the presidency on July 13, 1852.[1]
