Jan Joosten (biblical scholar)

Jan Joosten (born 17 May 1959, in Ekeren, Belgium) is a Biblical scholar. Since 2014, he has been Regius Professor of Hebrew at the University of Oxford. He was previously Professor of the Old Testament at the University of Strasbourg.[1] He is a member of the Society of Biblical Literature.

Joosten finished his studies in 1981 in Brussels. Area of interest: Septuagint, Syriac versions of the Bible, biblical manuscript found in Qumran, Diatessaron.
