Sir John Burn (born 6 February 1952) FRCP FRCPE FRCOG FRCPCH FMedSci is a British Professor of Clinical Genetics at Newcastle University. He is medical director and head of the Institute of Human Genetics, and lead clinician for the National Health Service North East.[2][3][4][5]

Education

Burn was born and raised in North East England. He was educated at Barnard Castle Grammar School, now Teesdale School[1] and Newcastle University Medical School from 1976 to 1980 from which he was awarded a Bachelor of Medical Sciences degree in 1973, a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery in 1976 and a Doctor of Medicine degree in 1990.[1]

Career

From 1989 to 2004, Burn led the Northern Genetics Service team.[6][7]

Awards

Burn received a knighthood for services to medicine in 2009.[8]
