  • John McCloy (Medal of Honor) (1876–1945), American naval officer who was awarded Medal of Honor for heroism in June 1900 (Boxer Rebellion) and April 1914 (Battle of Veracruz); as of 2012, one of 19 two-time recipients (out of 3,459 total)
  • John J. McCloy (1895–1989), American public official who served as Assistant Secretary of War during World War II, president of World Bank, High Commissioner for Germany, presidential advisor and member of Warren Commission. He sat with Adolf Hitler in his personal box at the 1936 Olympic games in Munich,Germany
