John Pezzin (born February 14, 1930) is an American bowler known for breaking the world record for consecutive strikes in a sanctioned match by rolling 33 consecutive strikes at Miracle Lanes during the Blade Traveling Classic March 4, 1976.[1][2][3][4] His 859 series was the highest ever rolled in Toledo bowling history.[5] The event was sanctioned by the American Bowling Congress and is widely considered[by whom?] to be one of the greatest performances in American bowling history.[5] The evening began with an open frame followed by a strike, a spare, and 9 strikes giving Pezzin a score of 259 in the first game. What happened next was nothing short of a miracle, as the alley name suggests. Pezzin rolled two consecutive 300 games, breaking the world record for most consecutive strikes in a sanctioned match.[6] It was for this accomplishment that he was inducted into the Greater Toledo Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 1988.[7]
