John Alec "Johnnie" Jackson (born 15 August 1982) is an English professional footballer who plays for Charlton Athletic where he is captain. He usually plays as a central midfielder or as a left sided midfielder but can also play as a left-back.

Club career
Tottenham Hotspur
Born in Camden, London,[2] Jackson began his career at Tottenham Hotspur in 1999, signing professional terms in 2000; however he rarely broke into the first-team, scoring once in the league in a 4–2 win at Charlton Athletic in February 2004.[3]
Loans
During his time at White Hart Lane he spent many seasons on loan at various lower league clubs, such as Swindon Town, where he scored twice, once in the league against Northampton Town,[4] and once in the Football League Trophy against Southend United.[5] He also went on loan to Colchester United, whom he would later join on a permanent basis. Jackson earned admiration while on loan at Coventry City when he scored the last-minute winning goal against local rivals West Bromwich Albion.[6]
Colchester United
In the summer of 2006, Jackson was released by Tottenham. He was soon signed on a free transfer by Colchester, who were recently promoted to the Championship, and whom he had played for on loan in 2003. He scored his first goal for the club in February 2007, when Colchester lost 2–1 against West Bromwich Albion.
In the 2007–08 season Jackson won the club's Player of the Year award.
During the 2008–09 season, Jackson missed several games due to a back injury that was aggravated during the 1–1 draw against Milton Keynes Dons.
Notts County
On 17 August 2009, Jackson signed for Notts County. He scored his first goal for Notts County in the 3–0 win over Dagenham & Redbridge on 22 August 2009.[7] His second County goal came in the FA Cup against Bradford City on 7 November 2009.[8]
Charlton Athletic
On 18 February 2010 Jackson signed for Charlton Athletic on a one-month loan to cover at left-back following an injury to Grant Basey.[9] Jackson joined Charlton permanently in July 2010 and was named the League One Player of the Month for November that year. He was appointed club captain for the 2011–12 season. In the same season Jackson scored 13 goals from left-midfield, two coming from free kicks in crucial 1–0 wins against both Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United as he led Charlton to the League One title.
On 29 June 2012, Jackson signed a two-year contract extension.[10]
Jackson continued his scoring record in the Championship, with a further 12 goals as Charlton finished in a secure ninth place.
On 14 March 2014, Jackson signed a new two-year contract extension with the Addicks.[11]
Johnnie Jackson has also made 200 appearances for Charlton Athletic. On 21 November 2015, he scored his 50th goal for the club in a 0-1 away win at Birmingham City.
