Jordan Burrow (born 12 September 1992) is an English semi-professional footballer who plays as a forward for National League club FC Halifax Town.

A product of Chesterfield's youth system, Burrow joined the club aged seven and went on to sign his first professional contract with the club in May 2011. He spent the opening months of the 2011–12 season on loan at Conference North side Boston United. On his return to Chesterfield in December that year, he was released by the club, having made no first-team appearances. He subsequently signed for Morecambe of League Two, joining on a free transfer in January 2012, and made over 50 appearances during his eighteen-month stay in Lancashire. In May 2013, Burrow signed for League One club Stevenage.

Career

Chesterfield

Burrow was born in Sheffield, South Yorkshire.[1] He began his career at Chesterfield at the age of seven and progressed through the various youth ranks over an eleven-year period.[3] Having played regularly for the club's reserve side during the 2010–11 season, scoring 26 goals that year, he signed his first professional contract with Chesterfield in May 2011, agreeing a six-month deal.[4] A month into the 2011–12 campaign, in September 2011, Burrow joined Conference North side Boston United on a one-month loan agreement to gain first-team experience.[5][6] Boston managers Lee Canoville and Jason Lee had previously been to watch the player, and managed to acquire Burrow's services after Jason Lee spoke to former team-mate and Chesterfield goalkeeping coach Mark Crossley about the possibility of a loan move.[7] He made his debut for the club three days after signing, on 24 September, coming on as a second-half substitute and scoring the winning goal in a 2–1 home victory over Droylsden.[8] Burrow repeated the feat in another 2–1 win shortly after, this time scoring with five minutes remaining as Boston came from a goal down to beat Workington at York Street.[9][10] His loan deal was subsequently extended for a further month in October 2011,[11] and he went on to make eleven appearances in league and cup competitions during his two-month stay at Boston.[12][13] Burrow returned to Chesterfield in December, but was released from his contract later that month having made no first-team appearances for the club.[14][15]

Morecambe

Following his release from Chesterfield, Burrow went on trial with League Two side Morecambe and played in a number of reserve matches during the opening weeks of January 2012.[16] The trial proved to be successful, and he joined the club on an eighteen-month contract on 22 January.[17] Burrow made his professional debut on 11 February 2012, in a 2–1 defeat to Bristol Rovers, coming on as a 72nd-minute substitute for Phil Jevons.[18] He subsequently made his first starting appearance three days later, playing the first 77 minutes as Morecambe secured a 1–0 win over Macclesfield Town.[19] He scored his first goal for the club shortly after, bundling in Lewis Alessandra's left wing free-kick to score the only goal of the game in a 1–0 victory against Southend United at the Globe Arena.[20] Burrow ended the season in fine goalscoring form, scoring in consecutive 3–2 away defeats to Burton Albion and Rotherham United,[21][22] before scoring a headed goal in a 2–2 draw with Plymouth Argyle to make it three goals in four games.[23][24] He scored four times in 19 appearances during his first season with Morecambe.[24]

He remained at Morecambe for the 2012–13 season, and started in the club's first game of the campaign as they secured a 2–1 win over Championship side Blackpool at Bloomfield Road in the League Cup.[25] Burrow suffered a knee injury in Morecambe's 4–1 win over Barnet on 10 November 2012,[26] and was expected to be out of first-team action for three months.[27][28] However, he returned to face his former club, Chesterfield, just five weeks later, appearing as a late substitute in the match.[29] A week later, Burrow scored his only goal of the season, netting from close range in Morecambe's 2–1 home victory over Dagenham Redbridge on 8 January 2013, a game that was played in front of the club's biggest crowd of the season.[30][31] Although he only scored once in 35 appearances during the season,[32] Burrow scored four times for Morecambe's reserve side in a 5–2 victory over Grimsby's second-string on 8 April 2013.[33] During his year-and-a-half at Morecambe, he made 54 appearances in all competitions, scoring five goals.[15]

Stevenage

Shortly after the end of the season, on 31 May 2013, Burrow rejected the offer of a "reduced terms" contract extension at Morecambe and opted to sign for League One side Stevenage.[34][35] He joined the club on a free transfer, and on a two-year contract.[34][36] Burrow made a goalscoring debut for Stevenage, sliding in to convert Robin Shroot's centre in a 2–0 home victory over Ipswich Town in the League Cup.[37]

On 17 May 2014, Burrow was released by Stevenage.[38]

Lincoln City

On 21 May, Burrow joined Conference side Lincoln City on a two-year deal.[39] He made his debut in a 0–0 draw with Kidderminster Harriers and scored his first goal the following week in a 2-1 win at Altrincham. In the next game he scored away at league leaders Barnet in a 2–1 victory. He later scored in an away game against Woking in a 3-1 loss. In the next game he scored the opening goal against Grimsby Town in the Lincolnshire Derby which Lincoln City went on to win 3-2, their first win over Grimsby Town for eight years. However, he was released by Lincoln at the end of the season despite having a year left to run on his contract.
