José Daniel Carreño Izquierdo (Spanish pronunciation: [xoˈse ðaˈnjel kaˈreɲo iθˈkjeɾðo]; born 1 May 1963) is a Uruguayan football manager, who currently manages Qatar. He is commonly known as "El Crespo" (Spanish word: "The curly"). Carreño played as a striker and spent the majority of his playing career at Montevideo Wanderers, having also spells in RC Lens and Nacional, in where with the last mentioned, he won the Intercontinental Cup and the Copa Libertadores, his unic two titles in his career.

Coaching career

Al-Nassr

On September 2012, it was announced that Jose Daniel Carreno would take over as manager of Saudi Professional League club Al-Nassr after replacing Francisco Maturana. On 1 February 2014, He won his first title with Al-Nassr in the 2013–14 Saudi Crown Prince Cup defeating long time Champion Al-Hilal . Al-Nassr won the game 2-1 against Al-Hilal. Al-Nassr scored (24) through Al-Hilal defender Sultan Al-Duaya who put the ball in his team’s net when he tried to defend the goal against Al-Nassr Bahraini Defender Muhammad Hussen’s header. Muhammad Al-Sahlawi scored the second through a penalty (58) after Al-Hilal Nawwaf Al-Abed tackle of Al-Nasr midfielder Shaya Shrahili. Al-Nassr broke Al-Hilal’s six-time-in-a-row record as the latter has won championship for the last six years.
