Jyothirmayi is an Indian actress, model and television personality, who has primarily worked in Malayalam cinema. Starting her career in modelling, she ventured into television, working as an anchor and later starring in TV series. She went on to appear in feature films, gaining recognition for her critically acclaimed performance in Bhavam (2002) and her role in Meesa Madhavan (2002).[1] Since, she has acted in nearly thirty films in Malayalam as well as in Tamil and Telugu language.[2]

Early life
Lua error in package.lua at line 80: module 'strict' not found. Jyothirmayi was born in Kottayam, Kerala and as the only daughter of Janardhanan Unni and Saraswathy Unni. She resides in Kochi at Kochukadavanthara. She studied at Mata Nagar School and later at St. Mary's School. She joined Maharaja's College for pre-degree. She studied for diploma in Public Relations and Journalism from Kerala Press Academy. It was then that she began anchoring programmes on the local Citi channel and later Asianet. Her start was with ramp shows and modeling. Later, she went into serials .Her debut serial was Avasthantharangal directed by Jude Attipetty and from there onto movies. she got National Film Award (Special Mention)for bhavam in 2003
Career
She was a serial artist at first. Indraneelam is one of her famous serials. She has also acted in some Telefilms but was not successful. In her first film Pilots, she played a minor character and the film was a failure. She became a top actress after Meesha Madhavan.[3]
Personal life
She was married to Nishanth Kumar, on September 6, 2004. Few years later the couple filed for divorce,[4] and it was granted on October 1, 2011. She married film director and cinematographer Amal Neerad on April 4, 2015.[5]
