Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) is an Indian Cooperative that sells products such as pedha, jalebi, paneer, curds and milk in the name of Nandini. It is a federation of milk producers association working on cooperative principles. Almost every district in state of Karnataka has milk producing co-operatives. The milk is collected from farmers who are its members, processed and sold in the market by the brand of Nandini. It is the second largest milk co-operative in India after AMUL.

Organization and Leadership

KMF has 13 Milk Unions throughout the State which procure milk from Primary Dairy Cooperative Societies(DCS) and distribute milk to the consumers in various urban and rural markets in Karnataka State.

It is the first dairy cooperative to launch ksheera bhagya scheme. In the scheme they give free milk to 1 crore children of rural karnataka villages.

Recent News and Controversies

KMF has been in the news in 2010 for price increases in Milk.[1] Occasionally there is spillover from Karnataka Politics into activities of KMF,[2] including the elections for the post of chairman,[3][4] and the timing of the milk price hike [5] after the BBMP elections but before the Gram Panchayat elections in 2010.
