Kim Sung-hee (born May 17, 1989) is a South Korean idol singer and dancer. She is a former member of the girl group Kara formed by DSP Media in 2007.

Career

Pre-debut

She graduated from the Goojung High School in 2007.

Sung-hee trained for three years at the agency DSP Media taking singing and dance lessons, she expected to be released as a solo singer, but was placed in the group KARA. Her mother, who was a soundtracks singer, was against the idea of Sung-hee being a singer knowing how is difficult a life in this music business. In 2005 Sung-hee recorded the OST Them I'm done for the drama Three Leaf Clover .[1]

Kara (2007-2008)

KARA debuted March 29, 2007 with "Break It" on 'M! Countdown as a group of four. Sung-hee was one of four members with Nicole Jung, Han Seung-yeon and Park Gyu-ri. KARA was often compared to Fin.K.L because of their concept and the fact that both are the same company (DSP Media).

Along with KARA she recorded the OST Fighting for the drama Chasing Kangnam Mother .[2]

After Sung-hee failed her college exams her father forbade her participation in group activities, so she left the KARA on 28 February 2008 for not fulfilling the promise she made to her parents that she could manage the singing career and would focus on their studies at the same time, just at the time KARA intended to make their comeback.[3][4]

Solo activities

On December 21, 2008, Sung-hee appeared in Shin Hyun Ho's Concert as a guest, for one of her performances she sang the song Listen .[5][6]

In July 2009, Sung-hee attended the Sound Holic Club and sang with her sister.[7]

In August 2009, Sung-hee participated in the song "Dream", debut song of the singer gn.E.[8]

Currently she works as vocal coach.[9][10]
