The Knole Academy is a secondary school in Sevenoaks, Kent, England that was opened in September 2010, as a result of the amalgamation of the Wildernesse School (for boys) and Bradbourne School (for girls). The two sites for each of the previous schools was used for the construction of the new Academy buildings which were completed in 2015. When the two schools merged not all of the students from Wildernesse moved over, the merging of all students was only completed in September 2011. Since then the site at Knole East has been used the construction of Trinity School, Sevenoaks and is the proposed site for a Grammar school annex.
In 2015 Knole Academy created controversy when it threatened that a pupil could not attend the funeral of her war hero great-grandfather else the school would penalise the rest of her class.[1]
The principal, Mary Boyle, is one of the highest paid public sector employees with a remuneration package in excess of £175k.[2]
The school is currently rated 'Requires Improvement' [3]
The Academy is sponsored by Gordon Phillips (Chairman of Glen Care), Sevenoaks School and KCC.
