Land mobile station (also: land mobile radio station) is – according to Article 1.73 of the International Telecommunication Union´s (ITU) ITU Radio Regulations (RR)[1] – defined as «A mobile radio station in the land mobile service capable of surface movement within the geographical limits of a country or continent.»

Each station shall be classified by the service in which it operates permanently or temporarily.
