Langston Hughes High School is a public secondary school located in Fairburn, Georgia, a suburb of metropolitan Atlanta.

History

LHHS is the newest and largest constructed high school in South Fulton County. It is adjacent to Renaissance Elementary and Renaissance Middle School. It was completed in May 2009, and opened its doors in August to educate students in the southern portion of the Fulton County School System. Built to meet the needs of a rapidly growing community, this state-of-the-art facility serves grades 9-12 with an enrollment of 2600.

The school was named Langston Hughes in keeping with the Renaissance theme of South Fulton. Hughes was an influential poet and author whose literary work helped create an innovative way of expression during the Harlem Renaissance period. His work continues to promote excellence in academic growth and social development.
