Laura Wasser

Laura Allison Wasser (born May 23, 1968) is an American attorney specializing in divorce. Her clients have included Heidi Klum, Ashton Kutcher, Christina Aguilera and Ryan Reynolds, as well as many pro bono clients from the Harriet Buhai Center for Family Law.

Early life

She was born in Los Angeles. She graduated from Beverly Hills High School and spent one year abroad in high school attending The American School in Switzerland. She attended University of California, Berkeley and earned a law degree from Loyola Law School in 1994.

Awards

Laura Wasser was named one of The Hollywood Reporter's 100 Power Lawyers in 2011, 2012 and 2013. She was also named one of the California Daily Journal's Top 100 Lawyers in 2012, 2013 and 2014, and one of Southern California’s Top 50 Women Attorneys for 2012, 2013 and 2014. In June 2008, Wasser received the Harriett Buhai Center for Family Law Zephyr M. Ramsey Award. In 2011, she was the recipient of the Century City Chamber of Commerce Women of Achievement. She was listed as one of the Top 50 Women Lawyers in 2012 and 2013 by the Los Angeles Magazine Super Lawyers. In May 2012, Wasser was also named by the Daily Journal in their list of the Top Women Lawyers. In May 2013, Wasser received the Brady Center Advocate Award.

On October 31, 2011, she filed a divorce petition on behalf of Kim Kardashian, seeking to dissolve Kim's two-month marriage to Kris Humphries. On December 16, 2011, TMZ.com indicated that she filed divorce paperwork for Vanessa Bryant, wife of NBA superstar Kobe Bryant. In August 2015, Megan Fox has hired celebrity lawyer Laura Wasser to represent her in her divorce from Brian Austin Green and she cites 'irreconcilable differences' as the reason for the petition.

She also served as an on-set legal consultant for the movie, Liar Liar. Her book It Doesn't Have to Be That Way: How to Divorce Without Destroying Your Family or Bankrupting Yourself was be released in 2013 and is in its second printing on year later.
