Lua error in package.lua at line 80: module 'strict' not found. Lee Smith (born 10 April 1962 in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico) is an American journalist, and senior editor for The Weekly Standard. He is the author of The Strong Horse: Power, Politics, and the Clash of Arab Civilizations (2003).[1] Smith has written for Slate, the New York Times, the Boston Globe, and a variety of Arab media outlets. He is also a fellow of the Hudson Institute and Foundation for Defense of Democracies. He is fluent in Spanish, Arabic, French, and Latin.

Education

Smith obtained his B.A. from George Washington University, where he received awards in English and Latin. He later received the Sage Graduate School Fellowship at Cornell University. He also attended American University in Cairo and Université Saint-Joseph in Beirut where he studied Arabic.

Career

Smith has worked at a number of publications which include: the Hudson Review, the Ecco Press, Atheneum, Grand Street, GQ Magazine, and Talk Magazine. Prior to working for The Weekly Standard, Smith was an editor-in-chief of the Voice Literary Supplement. He has appeared on radio and television outlets such as the Fox News and the National Public Radio.[2]
