WWE is an American professional wrestling promotion based out of Stamford, Connecticut. The company promotes several championships and title reigns are either determined by professional wrestling matches or are awarded to a wrestler, as a result of the culmination of various scripted storylines.

WWE divides its roster between five brands, which is where wrestlers exclusively compete, albeit with some exceptions. The three primary brands that WWE promotes are Raw, SmackDown, and NXT.[1][2] Specialty brands include 205 Live, which is for male wrestlers 205 lbs. and under (designated by WWE as cruiserweights), and NXT UK, which is for wrestlers based in the United Kingdom—both of these specialty brands are considered as subdivisions of NXT.[3]

Raw, SmackDown, NXT, and NXT UK each have a primary and secondary championship for male wrestlers, a singles championship for female wrestlers, and a tag team championship for male wrestlers. There are two tag team championships for female wrestlers—one shared by Raw and SmackDown, and the other on NXT. There is one championship for the cruiserweight wrestlers that is shared by NXT, NXT UK, and 205 Live. There is also a tertiary championship, which is open to anyone, regardless of gender or WWE employment status.

There are currently 20 championships in WWE. As of April 24, 2024, among the five current brands, 26 wrestlers officially hold championships. This list includes the number of times the wrestler has held the title, the date and location of the win, and a description of the winning bout.

Overview

Men

At the top of WWE's championship hierarchy for male wrestlers are the WWE Championship on Raw, the Universal Championship on SmackDown, and the NXT Championship on NXT — all regarded as world championships. The WWE Championship is held by first-time champion Big E, who defeated Bobby Lashley on the September 13, 2021 episode of Raw by cashing in his Money in the Bank contract on Lashley, who had just retained the title in a match against Randy Orton.[4] The Universal Championship is held by Roman Reigns, who is in his second reign. He won the title by defeating previous champion "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman, who Reigns pinned, in a No Holds Barred Triple Threat match at Payback on August 30, 2020.[5] The NXT Championship is held by two-time champion Tommaso Ciampa. He won the vacant title by defeating LA Knight, Pete Dunne, and Von Wagner in a fatal four-way match on the September 21, 2021 episode of NXT 2.0; previous champion Samoa Joe relinquished the title due to injury.[6]

Secondary titles for male wrestlers include the United States Championship on Raw, the Intercontinental Championship on SmackDown, and the North American Championship on NXT. The United States Championship is held by Damian Priest, who is in his first reign. He defeated Sheamus on August 21, 2021 at SummerSlam.[7] The Intercontinental Championship is held by two-time champion Shinsuke Nakamura, who defeated Apollo Crews on the August 13, 2021 episode of SmackDown. He won the title under the ring name "King Nakamura", but relinquished the crown on October 8, 2021 out of respect for the 2021 King of the Ring tournament.[8] The North American Championship is held by first-time champion Carmelo Hayes, who defeated Isaiah "Swerve" Scott on the October 12, 2021 episode of NXT 2.0 by cashing in his NXT Breakout Tournament contract on Swerve, who had just retained the title in a match against Santos Escobar.[9]

Women

At the top of WWE's championship hierarchy for female wrestlers are the Raw Women's Championship, the SmackDown Women's Championship, and the NXT Women's Championship — all regarded as world championships. The Raw Women's Championship is held by two-time champion Becky Lynch, while the SmackDown Women's Championship is held by record six-time champion Charlotte Flair. Prior to the 2021 WWE Draft, Lynch and Flair held the opposite titles and during the draft, the two women were drafted to the opposing brands. On the October 22, 2021 episode of SmackDown, the night draft results went into effect, WWE official Sonya Deville had Lynch and Flair exchange titles to keep the championships on their respective brands.[10][11] The NXT Women's Championship is held by Mandy Rose, who is in her first reign. She won the title by defeating Raquel González in a Trick or Street Fight match on October 26, 2021 at Halloween Havoc.[12]

Tag team

Men

Raw, SmackDown, and NXT each have a tag team championship for male wrestlers. The Raw Tag Team Championship is held by first time champions RK-Bro (Randy Orton and Riddle), who defeated AJ Styles and Omos on August 21, 2021 at SummerSlam.[13] The SmackDown Tag Team Championship is held by The Usos (Jey Uso and Jimmy Uso), who are in their fifth reign. They defeated Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio on July 18, 2021 during the Money in the Bank Kickoff pre-show.[14] The NXT Tag Team Championship is held by two-time champions Imperium (Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel), who defeated MSK (Nash Carter and Wes Lee) in a Lumber Jack-o-Lantern match on October 26, 2021 at Halloween Havoc.[15]

Women

There are two tag team championships for female wrestlers — the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship, which is shared by Raw and SmackDown, and the NXT Women's Tag Team Championship, which is defended on NXT. The WWE Women's Tag Team Championship is held by Rhea Ripley and Nikki A.S.H., who are in their first reign as a team (Nikki's record third reign individually). They defeated Natalya and Tamina on the September 20, 2021 episode of Raw.[16] The NXT Women's Tag Team Championship is held by first-time champions Toxic Attraction (Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne). They defeated previous champions Io Shirai and Zoey Stark and the team of Indi Hartwell and Persia Pirotta in a Scareway to Hell Ladder Triple Threat tag team match on October 26, 2021 at Halloween Havoc[17]

UK

The top title for male wrestlers in NXT UK is the NXT United Kingdom Championship. It is held by Ilja Dragunov, who is in his first reign. He won the title by defeating Walter at NXT TakeOver 36 on August 22, 2021.[18] The top title for female wrestlers is the NXT UK Women's Championship. It is held by first-time title holder Meiko Satomura, who won the title by defeating Kay Lee Ray on the June 10, 2021 episode of NXT UK (the actual date the match took place is unknown).[19] The secondary championship for male wrestlers is the NXT UK Heritage Cup, which has a special stipulation in which all matches are contested under "British Rounds Rules". It is held by Noam Dar, who is in his first reign. He defeated Tyler Bate on the October 28, 2021 episode of NXT UK (the actual date the match took place is unknown).[20] There is only one tag team championship in NXT UK, and it is for male wrestlers. The NXT UK Tag Team Championship is held by Pretty Deadly (Lewis Howley and Sam Stoker), who are in their first reign. They defeated Gallus (Mark Coffey and Wolfgang) on the February 25, 2021 episode of NXT UK (the actual date the match took place is unknown).[21]

Tertiary and specialty

The WWE 24/7 Championship is a tertiary championship shared across all five brands and is open to anyone regardless of gender (including non-WWE personnel). It can be defended anytime, anywhere, as long as a WWE referee is present. The title is held by Reggie from Raw, who is in his second reign. He pinned Drake Maverick on the November 8, 2021 episode of Raw.[22]

The NXT Cruiserweight Championship is the only championship of the 205 Live brand and is also defended on NXT and NXT UK. It is for wrestlers 205 lb (93 kg) and under (referred to as cruiserweights); the only championship in WWE with a weight limit. The title is held by Roderick Strong from NXT, who is in his first reign. He defeated Kushida on the September 21, 2021 episode of NXT 2.0.[23]

Current champions

Tables with a "Days recognized" column means that WWE officially recognizes a different number of days that a wrestler has held a title due to an event airing on tape delay. In some cases, particularly recent NXT UK events, the actual date an event took place is unknown.
