Ship Country Description
Louis  United Kingdom The smack was abandoned in the Bristol Channel. Her crew were rescued by the fishing vessel Ann ( United Kingdom). Louis came ashore at Port Eynon Point, Glamorgan and was wrecked. She was on a voyage from Llanelli, Glamorgan to Rouen, Seine-Maritime, France.[1]

John Gilpin  United States The clipper collided with an iceberg in the South Atlantic 150 nautical miles (280 km) off the Falkland Islands. She was abandoned the next day. Her crew were rescued by Hertfordshire ( United Kingdom).

HMS Sappho  Royal Navy The 16-gun brig was sighted off Cape Bridgewater, Victoria. No further trace, presumed foundered in the Bass Strait with the loss of all hands,

John Milton  United States The clipper was wrecked 5 nautical miles (9.3 km) west of the Montauk Point Lighthouse, New York with the loss of all hands.

Eliza Battle  United States The steamboat was destroyed by fire in the Tombigbee River at Pennington, Alabama. There were around thirty casualties from around 100 people on board.

James Baines  United Kingdom The clipper was severely damaged by fire in the Huskisson Dock, liverpool, Lancashire. She was declared a constructive total loss and was subsequently used as a coal hulk.

Ship Country Description
Busy  United Kingdom The ship struck the Mixon Sand, in the Bristol Channel and foundered. She was on a voyage from Beaumaris, Anglesey to Neath, Glamorgan.[1]

Pennsylvania  United States The steamboat suffered a boiler explosion and sank in the Mississippi River near Memphis, Tennessee with the loss of about 450 lives.

Antelope  United States The clipper struck Discovery Shoal, off the Paracel Islands and was wrecked. All on board survived.

Cricketer & Teazer  United Kingdom The pilot boat collided with a Russian steamship off Southwold, Suffolk and foundered. Her thirteen crew were rescued.[2]

The passenger ship was destroyed by fire in the Atlantic Ocean with the loss of about 500 lives. Sixty-five survivors were rescued by Caterina ( Norway) and Maurice ( France).

Henry Porcher  United Kingdom The barque ran aground and was wrecked near Thurso, Caithness after her captain committed suicide. She was on a voyage from Quebec, Canada to Grangemouth, Stirlingshire.

Hazard  United Kingdom The ship foundered in the Bristol Channel off Oxwich, Glamorgan. Her four crew were rescued.[1]

Rajah  United States The New Bedford bark was wrecked on the north side of Bolshoy Shantar Island, Sea of Okhotsk during a gale. Twelve men perished while thirteen were saved by Condor ( United States).[3]
