London Buses route 77 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Tooting and Waterloo stations, it is operated by London General.
History
At the time of the formation of the London Passenger Transport Board in 1933, route 77 existed as a service between Wallington and King's Cross via Carshalton, Mitcham, Tooting, Clapham Junction, Vauxhall, Lambeth Bridge, Trafalgar Square and Kingsway.
On 1 May 1957, the route was withdrawn between Euston station and King's Cross.
From 25 April 1981, it was withdrawn between Aldwych and Euston at the northern end, and Wallington and Tooting at the southern end. On 1 February 1986, route 77 was converted to one man operation. From 25 May 1991, it was curtailed between Waterloo station and Aldwych.
Upon being re-tendered, route 77 was retained by London General with a new contract commencing on 3 June 2006.[1] London General commenced a further contract on 1 June 2013.[2][3]
