Lu Yi (born January 6, 1976) is a Chinese actor and singer. He graduated from the Shanghai Theatre Academy in 1999. Lu Yi started his actor life when he was five years old. In year of 1999, he rose to fame because of the TV series, Never Dies Content. Over the next several years after his 1999 debut in Never Dies Content, he took part in numerous TV series and films, such as Boy&Girl,[1] Confucius, etc. Lu Yi married actress Bo Lei (鲍蕾)[2] in 2006. After three years, their daughter, Lu Yu Xuan( Bei Er )was born.

Early life

Lu Yi was born in Shanghai, a common family. He began his life as an actor when he was a child. However, he was not well-known at that time. Lu Yi played a role in move "Spring Ding-dong" when he was five years old. From age five to eighteen, he had an average one to two movies each year. In Grade 8, Lu began to learn Peking Opera and Chinese Kung Fu. After three years, he took part in more than 700 dramas. After a long period of time to hone, he joined the TV series crew, Never Dies Content, in 1999. Lu Yi became one of the top actors in China.

Career

Year 1999-2005

Over the next several years after his 1999 debut in Never Dies Content, the audiences started to know him. This time period was the most active years in Lu's career life. Lu had been participating in fourteen TV series and films, and all those TV series and film attracted a lot of people's attention in China. He not only published two books,[3][4] but also released two albums[5][6] at this time period. In year 2004 and 2005, Lu had win the thirteenth and eleventh place of Forbes Chinese Celebrities List respectively.[7] His movie Seven Swords was the opening movie in Venice Film Festival in year 2005. At the same year, Seven Swords received seven nominations at the Golden Horse, and two nominations at the Hong Kong Film Award.

Year 2006

In 2006, he married actress Bao Lei.[8] They were classmates when they studied in Shanghai Theatre Academy, and knew each other more than 10 years.[9] Lu took a break after his wedding.

Year 2007-present

Lu returned from his break in 2007, and he played main roles in the films Anna&Anna, Fit Lover, Tangshan Dadizhen,[10] etc. In year 2010, his movie, The Stool Pigeon received four nominations at the Hong Kong Film Award. Next year, his another movie, Three Kingdoms,[11] won two awards in Korea and Japan. Lu has been always active in the screen of films and TV series until now.
