Luge at the 1980 Winter Olympics consisted of three events at Mt. Van Hoevenberg Olympic Bobsled Run. The competition took place between February 13 and February 16, 1980.[1]

East Germany led the medal table with three medals, two gold. The two medals won by the Soviet Union in the women's singles were the first won by the country in luge, and the first won by non-German speaking athletes.[2] The East Germans had won gold medals in every Olympic luge race since 1968, until the Soviet victory in the women's race.
