Ma'arat Umm Hawsh (Arabic: معراتة أم حوش, also spelled Maarateh Om Hosh) is a kurdish village in northern Syria, administratively part of the Nahiya Mare' in the A'zaz District of Aleppo Governorate, located north of Aleppo. Nearby localities include Mare' to the north, Tell Qarah to the southwest, Ihras to the west and Herbel to the northwest. According to the Syria Central Bureau of Statistics, Ma'arat Umm Hawsh had a mostly arabisized kurdish[2] population of 3,542 in the 2004 census.[1]
