Maihuenia poepigii (Chilean: maihuén[2]) is a succulent cactus shrub native to Chile and Argentina. This cactus is notable as it can tolerate moisture[3] and cold.[4]

Its specific epithet poepigii commemorates Eduard Pöppig, a 19th-century German naturalist who explored South America.[5]
