Mario Anguiano Moreno (born August 15, 1962 in Tinajas, Colima) is a Mexican politician and member of the Institutional Revolutionary Party. Moreno has served as the Governor of Colima since November 2, 2009.[1] Was Municipal president of the City of Colima, Colima capital regaining his party after the mandate of the PAN Leoncio Morán Sánchez. In July 2009, won in the Colima state election, 2009 for governor of the state, for the period 2009-2015.

Biography

He is originally from the town of Tinajas, Colima, Mexico.

He was born on August 15, 1962, and is 48 years old. He earned a BA Economics from the University of Colima. For his dedication and commitment, Anguiano was awarded the prize, "Peña Colorada" for the 1981-1986 generation. The "Peña Colorada" award is given to the individual with the highest grade average.

For excelling in his academic career, Anguiano was invited by the Friedrich Nauman Foundation (Fundación Friedrich Nauman), as the representative of Mexico for Planning training courses in Government and Fiscal Decentralization, held in the years 1997 and 2001, respectively, in Germany.

Mario Anguiano has also worked in the public and City Treasurer (Tesorero Municipal) in the municipalities of Colima and Manzanillo in periods of 1992-1994 and 2000–2002, respectively, as well as Finance Chief Accountant H. Congress of State (Contador Mayor de Hacienda del H. Congreso del Estado) during the LI and LII Legislatures from 1995-1999.

He was also a Local Representative for the Third District of Colima (Diputado Local por el Tercer Distrito de Colima) in the LIV Legislature of the State Congress of Colima. Among his duties as a popular representative, Anguiano chaired the Committee on Finance and Bugdet (Comisión de Hacienda y Presupuesto), besides being part of the Committees for Rural Development and Fisheries Development; Planning, Tourism, Economic Development and Human Rights (Comisiones de Desarrollo Rural y Fomento Pesquero; de Planeación, Turismo, Fomento Económico y de Derechos Humanos). In this political body he served as President of the League of Revolutionary Economists (Presidencia de la Liga de Economistas Revolucionarios) of 1994-1999.

Mario Anguiano has also ventured into the private sector, serving as CEO of the Enterprise "Agrotechnology of Colima S.A. of C.V." (Director General de la Empresa "Agrotecnología de Colima S.A. de C.V."), during the period of 1999-2000.

He has been a member of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) since 1990.

Elections

During the Colima state election, 2009, won a majority of the votes cast for what will be the next governor of Colima, for the period of 2009 to 2015, after defeating his opponent, the Sen. Martha Sosa Govea of the National Action Party (PAN).
